Emma Puttick
Director
Throughout her diverse career, Emma has stood at the cutting edge of progress in her chosen fields – from science and biotechnology to sales and customer service.
Educated in Australia, Emma completed a degree in science, majoring in bioscience – after which she worked in London overseeing service provision and preparing new technologies for market.
During the sequencing of DNA in the 1990’s, Emma worked in cancer research at the University of Queensland, and then moved into establishing the first Australian Genome Research Facility.
Instrumental in achieving a groundbreaking $10 million government grant to create an additional three genome research facilities in Australia, Emma then oversaw their development and pioneering pilot studies in DNA sequencing and cloning.
As laboratory manager at the prestigious Karolinska Insititute from 2001 to 2004, Emma assisted in the development of Sweden’s bioscience industry and later worked in sales for the biotechnology industry in Europe.
In 2004 she moved back to Australia, for her husband to help set up Smart Environments, a home automation company.
But it was the hurdles encountered while creating two online businesses that lead Emma to realise the need for an integrated approach to online business.
Emma saw an opportunity to empower and educate small and medium businesses by utilising open source software, which brings together the greatest software programmers in the world to create efficient, effective and user-friendly platforms to address every aspect of an organisation’s needs, online.
Sauce Software was born from this vision in 2005, directed by Emma’s ‘go to market’ plans and masterminded by a young team of software programmers.
